Obituary of Maxine Olive Boothe Nelson
Maxine Olive Boothe Nelson, 84, of Lehi passed away December 9, 2017. Born May 11, 1933 in Burley, Idaho the daughter of Leslie Harrison and Ella Nielson Boothe.
She was the youngest of six siblings who lovingly called her "Macky". She was a happy, sunny child and good-natured. After high school she attended Ricks College where she obtained a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. While there, she met her sweetheart, Elbert "Dwain" Nelson and they were married on August 23, 1956 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived together for 57 wonderful years, raising seven children, whom were their pride and joy. Maxine was famous for her bread and cinnamon rolls. She would often take freshly baked goods to friends and neighbors just to brighten their day. She loved children’s books, of which she has a grand collection. She loved music, and made sure each of her children had the opportunity to take piano lessons. She loved flowers and always had a magnificent fragrant garden gracing her yard. Maxine taught elementary education for 15 years, mainly in Vernal. She inspired many children over the years with the love and care she showed them; each child was precious to her. She served a mission with her husband for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Thailand. They enjoyed serving the good people of Thailand, whom they came to love. Her circle of love included her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, extended family and many whom she called friend. She was a woman of faith and fortitude, always serving, always teaching. We love her eternally, and will miss her beautiful smile and loving heart... and will always remember the wonderful principles and life values she taught us.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and sisters Melba and Darlene. Survivors include her children: Shellene (Harvey) Young; Weston (Teena) Nelson; Larene (Blaine) Hildreth; Sterling (Michelle) Nelson; Trent (Sue) Nelson; Gayla (Adam) Weston; JaLynn (Mark) Park; 30 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and siblings: Les (Lou) Boothe; Wayne (Velma) Boothe; Carole Moulton.
