Obituary of Fred Lynn Tuttle

On May 4th, 2018, Fred Lynn Tuttle, 66, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a valiant fight with a rare form of cancer.

Born October 27, 1951 in Salt Lake City, to Paul Tuttle and Barbara Anderson, Fred spent most of his childhood in Bountiful, Utah. Growing up he was a creative boy who had a natural talent for building and fixing things. He loved spending time with his family, especially fishing and working on cars with his dad. He attended Viewmont High School, where he enjoyed competing on the diving team. Fred served a mission for the LDS church in the Brazil South Mission from 1970 - 1972. Upon returning home he attended the University of Utah where he received his bachelor’s in accounting.

While there at the University of Utah, he met Mary Brinton, and they were married August 9, 1974 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had six children, and enjoyed the outdoors, camping trips, and gardening together.

Fred worked for the old Deseret Gym and in both the missionary and payroll department of the LDS church. While in the payroll department, Fred wrote his first software program to help facilitate his duties. Through that experience, he found a life-long interest in computer programming. For the last 30 years, Fred owned and operated a point-of-sale software company, specific to college bookstores, which allowed him to both pursue his desire to create his own software and be his own boss. Throughout his career, he valued the relationships he formed with employees and customers.

Fred was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He held various callings throughout his life, and especially enjoyed teaching Gospel Principles and magnifying his home teaching assignments.

During the last few years, Fred was able to pursue his love of bike-riding and became an avid cyclist. He enjoyed taking long rides and being out in nature.

Survived by his wife; children, Matt (Becky) Tuttle, Jake (Ayca) Tuttle, Joseph (Evana) Tuttle, Emily (Shad) Steggell, Elisa (Seth) LeFevre, and Hyrum (Alina) Tuttle, 17 amazing grandchildren, and his father Paul (Jackie) Tuttle.  Preceded in death by mother, and infant sister, Paula Sue Tuttle.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the LDS Humanitarian Fund is always welcome.
