Obituary of Gaila Jean Dennis

Gaila Jean Dennis Gaila Jean Dennis returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father on April 28, 2015. She was born May 16, 1963 in American Fork, Utah to parents Almira and Jim Bird. Her father passed away and she was raised by mother and step-father Jody Spencer. She was known throughout her adolescent years as Gaila Spencer. She married Carl Lowery in 1982. They had four children: Nicholas, Nathaniel, Bret and Billy. Later they divorced. In 1992 Gaila married Steven Dennis and together they had three sons: Skylar, Chase and Tadd. Steven passed away in 2007. At the time of her death she lived in Provo with fiancé and partner Scott Cain. Gaila’s life has been hard but she has always struggled and fought to survive and to find happiness. She never gave up even when things were at their worst. She continually strived to improve herself and make good choices. Her health has been bad the last few years and she fought very hard to stay with those she loved. But now her struggle is over and we know she has found peace in the arms of those who welcomed her home. Gaila was blessed to be the mother of seven sons. She had four beautiful grandchildren. She loved her sons more than anything in this life. She was so proud of them and their accomplishments. Gaila will always be watching over her family. She was a great sister and friend and showed love to everyone. Her heart was SO big. We will all miss her very much. Gaila is survived by her sons, Nicholas (Ashley), Provo; Nathaniel (Callie), Hurricane; Bret (Paula), West Jordan; Billy (Jenny), Provo; Skylar, Chase and Tadd, Salem. Grandchildren: Logan, Alex and McKayla Lowery, Hurricane; and Sutton Lowery, Provo. Step-father, Jody Lee Spencer, Arizona. Siblings: Tricia (Ira) Wright, West Jordan; Craig (Teri) Bird, Riverton; Danny Spencer, Cindy Wolfchief and Christina Spencer, Arizona; Tina Givens, Washington. Fiancé: Scott Cain, Provo. Gaila is preceded in death by: husband Steven Dennis; father, James Dewey Bird; mother Almira Chesnut Bird Spencer. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork, Utah. A viewing will be on Sunday from 6 - 8 p.m. and again Monday from 9:45-10:45 a.m., both at the mortuary.
