Calvin Ray “Jake” Jacobs
1925-2016
Calvin Ray “Jake” Jacobs passed away at the Charleston Assisted Living Center in Cedar Hills Utah on March 7, 2016 at the age of 90. He was the son of John Earl and Mary Ellen Jacobs, born on July 12, 1925 in Lehi Utah, the sixth of nine children.
Ray attended school in Lehi Utah. He served in the United States Navy from 1943-1946. He drove truck for many years before going to work for Geneva Steel as a crane operator for 41 years and made many good friends.
Ray Married Rhoda Opal Dickerson April 25, 1947 in American Fork Utah. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage and became parents to six children.
Ray was a “jack of all trade and master of none” and was always willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed going to the coffee shop with his friends planting a garden, camping and gathering wood. His and Opal's greatest joy was their family, especially their grandchildren.
Ray is survived by his five children: Jack Jacobs, Shirley Currier, Clyde and Janice Jacobs, Judy and Bruce Black and Linda and Gary Jolley. He will be greatly missed by his 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Clara Clements and brother Lynn Jacobs. He was proceeded in death by his wife Opal, son Ronald, sister Tillie Walker, brothers, Chet, Dick, Ralph, Jesse, and Tom; son's-in-law Barry Cannon and Michael Currier and a great-great grandson Haven Michael Thompson.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Von Welch, Suzette Mitchell and the staff and friends at the Charleston for their love and care of Ray.
Funeral services will be held Friday March 11, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork Utah. A viewing will be held Thursday evening March 10, 2016 from 6-8 and 9:45-10:45 prior to the services. Interment will be in the Lehi City Cemetery.
