We moved next door to Ray & Opal in January of 1977. Their family was nearly all grown, & we had 3 very small children & another one to come in 1979. Opal tended grandkids, and Ray worked hard. We were always borrowing some tool, generator, tiller or most of all his knowledge & funny, gruff good nature. Very seldom did I get the mower out that he didn't call over "you damn agitator, are you trying to get me to mow my grass?" Or if I got the hose out or fertilized he would say, Michelle don't you know that will just make things grow faster?" He would jokingly call my kids by the wrong name just to get them to laugh. We will miss you Ray, you were the best neighbor ever! Every year on my Birthday I would have a visit from Ray with a dozen red roses (of course he said he just found them on the sidewalk!) We will be so happy to see you & Opal again in another time and another place. Rest in Peace our friend & neighbor, you certainly deserve it
