Obituary of Gary Evans
Gary Martin Evans, 73, passed away unexpectedly on November 3, 2016 in Provo, Utah, after a short illness. Born June 6, 1943 in Malad City, Idaho to Fay Jones Evans and Erma Willa Martin Evans. He married Mary Kathleen (Kathy) Ockey on August 14, 1964 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Gary enjoyed his career as a teacher and coach. He especially loved his work with handicapped children. He was an active member of the LDS church and served in many callings including counselor in a bishopric, and as an ordinance worker in the Mount Timpanogos Temple. He and his wife fulfilled a service mission after their retirement. He loved his family and was the Greatest Grandpa on Earth.
He is survived by his wife Kathy, his 5 daughters: Beckie (Jay) Huckaby, Angela (Mike) Jensen, Valerie (Glenn) Darley, Wendy (Eric) Lindberg, Melinda (Zion) Dunn, 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, and his sister Sharon (Ren) Jensen. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A viewing will be held on November 9, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary at 49 East 100 North in American Fork. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 10, at 11 a.m. in the American Fork 30th Ward chapel, 270 North 900 East. There will be an additional viewing from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Burial will be in the Vine Bluff Cemetery, 1200 N 400 E, Nephi, Utah.
