I was always a big fan of Gary Evans. We played on the ball teams together in Malad growing up. Even though I was a year older than Gary we spent many hours together practicing against each other and playing together. He was always positive and cheerful and a great friend. I loved his family, his dad Faye was a wonderful friend to us all and a good and fair referee. I don't ever remember his mom without a huge smile and pleasant and encouraging word for us. His sister Sharon was someone I always admired and looked up to as she was a close friend to my older brother Darl and she married a relative of mine, Ren Jensen all who made my life better growing up without a mom. My deepest sympathies to the his wife and family. You can be proud of the life FAry lived. I am sorry I didn't hear about the funeral until it had past. I got a call from our coach, the anchor in many of our lives growing up, Courtney Leishman, and I misunderstood the day, and thought the funeral was today, not yesterday when I was tied up with my calling at the MTC. May the Good Lord's choicest blessings attend this wonderful family always and comfort you at this time of need. Love to all, Del and Sylvia Williams

I have so many fond memories of being in the Evans home! It was so much fun when Gary was there. He would always make me laugh. My favorite thing was his love for Disney. I used to call him WALT and he would call me TINK! I was very lucky to know Walt & your family. Hugs & prayers sent to you all. Love- Tammy (Tink)

As a member of a rather rowdy young men’s group Gary taught in the 80’s I will always be grateful for his patience and kindness. From weekly lessons to high adventure on the San Juan River he was always a fine example of what a good leader, father and friend should be. Our crew became better men because of his example, involvement and sacrifice for us. Our prayers and thanksgiving are with your family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of this great man. I have many fond memories of Gary growing up together in Malad which linger in my heart today. Gary was a role model to me and was always very kind and gentle to all whom he came in contact with. As we traveled on the bus to sporting events and music festivals Gary was always there to cheer us up in times of victory or defeat. Gary will be missed but he leaves a legacy that will be remembered forever. I look forward to the day when we will meet again. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of this great man.
Love,
Ed and Karen Archibald
