Obituary of Jose E. LaForett

Jose Esequias LaForett, Jr. passed away January 20, 2019 in American Fork surrounded by his family.  He was known by most as Frenchy.  He was born May 19, 1936 to Esequias and Adela Martinez LaForett in Questa, New Mexico. He married Betty Eva Francisquita Herrera on June 25, 1966 in the St. Francis Catholic Church in Provo, Utah.

Jose worked for Kennecott for 39 years. He was a hard worker and loyal to everyone around him.  He lived life with laughter and always liked to make people laugh. He was one to enjoy humor in many situations. He was very particular about being very clean and detailed in his appearance and his automobiles.  He had a huge passion for fishing and fished till the sun went down. He was humble and kind. He may have been very quiet, but he had the biggest heart, which lead to him having many friends. He helped anyone he could and never complained. A famous quote when asked how he was doing was, “I’m doing okay” with a smile no matter the circumstances.

He loved his family especially spending time with the grandkids. He enjoyed the sweets.  Often he would want dessert first.  He was a special man. We all love him and will miss him.

Jose is survived by his wife Frances, his children: Tony (Emily) LaForett, Debbie(Shane) Gilbert, Toby LaForett, Tina Card and his 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sisters: Dorothy Tafoya; Evila Garcia; Ida Garcia.  He is preceded in death by his parents two sisters Armida LaForett;  Maggie Vasquez and a brother Albert LaForett.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at 10:00 am in the St. Peters Catholic Church, 634 Caveman Blvd., American Fork.  A viewing will be held Monday from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm followed by a Rosary at 7:30 pm at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, Am.
