Alan and I were best friends all through Junior High School. Far too many memories to recount. Playing in Doug Moyle's "fort", picking fruit in the numerous orchards around Alpine, riding the school bus to AFJH, going "uranium propecting" with one of our teachers, and many more. I first met Alan in the small Alpine school house in 5th grade taught by Mr. Tregaskis. After my family moved to Provo Alan and I still stayed in touch and I saw him several times at BYU. Our last visit was near LAX as he and Suzanne were on their way to Australia.
My condolences to his family, and especially Dennis, who as a kid was always tailing Alan and me around with his sketch pad.

Our family was so saddened to hear of Alan Smith’s passing. He is a truly wonderful man. I will always cherish fond memories of home teaching lessons, birthday month dinners, and cheering us on at our games. Alan was the best home teacher, and he and Susanne profoundly blessed our lives. Thank you for the love, support, and kindness. We send our love, prayers, and condolences.

Dear Suzanne and family,
We are so sad to hear of Alan´s passing. We were looking forward to visiting with him again when we return to the states next year. HIs smile and laughter will ever be etched in our memories.
We have so enjoyed our friendship and affiliation with you over the years in Alpine, Denver and Houston. We love you two so much. We only wish we could be there to pay our respects in person.
Alan is a man never to be forgotten. The world is a better place because of him.
May the Lord bless you with peace and comfort during this time of trial.

Uncle Alan was one of a kind! He always made me feel loved! He would LISTEN and then take the time to process his response. He was so knowledgeable on so many levels and he loved sharing that knowledge as well. He told great stories fiction and non fiction! His love was carried down to my three children as well! So literally he was a GREAT uncle. We will forever miss his smile, his laugh, his hugs, his adventures.... walking and “jeeping” .... and his response....” Oh, Susanne..” with eyes rolling (lovingly) of course. We know there will be more conversations, Uncle Alan until then, ❤️ Susie and family

I will forever miss my brother Alan. He was very special person to me in my life. I have wonderful memories of growing up with him. I pray that our Heavenly Father will take care of him. His wife Susanne and the rest of the family will be in our prays. I wish I could be there with them, but circumstances won't allow it.
All my love
Your brother
Ronald
My wife, Joanne, sends her condolences as well. She remembers the fun times we had playing games and going to the canyon for picnics. Her love goes out to you all.
