It's hard to put into words the loss that our family feels at Alan's passing. We have 20 years of wonderful memories to think about! Alan and Anne have had such a profound influence on our three daughters and their musical upbringing, from playing and singing in the St. Peter Parish choir, to our kids all performing with the American Fork High School Marching Band program, to performing with Utah Premiere Brass. UPB concerts were always a treat for my parents when they would visit from Michigan. Being military, my dad's favorite was always the encore, Stars and Stripes Forever! He felt like Alan was playing it just for him!
As business partners for many years, Alan and I learned a lot from each other, as our strengths and weaknesses were opposites. He approached everything he did with so much passion! I recall one evening early in those years when our group was moving into a new office. When the pizza delivery man arrived, Alan met him at the door. We learned a short time later that Alan treated him to his fervent pitch about the importance of life insurance, and insistence that he should change occupations and join us! We all had a good laugh, but each of us admired him for talking to anyone who crossed his path. No one else in the room would've thought of it in that moment.
Alan was always so interested in helping others, and connecting the right people to achieve goals. One of his favorite sayings was, "It is what it is." At the same time, he was envisioning what things could be! Passionate about self-improvement, Alan earned his Doctorate, learned to speak Cherokee, and became a healer at times when he barely had time to sleep! He touched so many lives, and I can personally say that I'm a better person for having known him! As we all mourn the loss of a very dear friend, I believe we can say we were the lucky ones, for having him walk our paths with us for a while! We will miss you, Alan!
Anne and James, you have our deepest condolences, and we're grieving with you!

Although I didn’t know Alan well, Anne has been a delightful part in all 5 of our children’s lives. She taught each one of them in beginning band and instilled in them a deep love of music. I have known that Mrs. Boyer has to have had a really patient and kind spouse for years now, because of all the time and effort that she has put into the American Fork Band Program. We are deeply saddened to hear of this loss and send our love and prayers to the Boyer family.

I was so sad to hear of the passing of Alan. He was a dear friend and a huge influence in my life. I met Alan when I had the privilege of joining Utah Premier Brass during its first few years. I played with UPB for about 7 years from around 2001 to 2008 when my first child was born. Alan was a great inspiration to me as I have been a band teacher. Not only did he expect excellence from me as a cornet player, he also helped me to be a better musician and teacher to my own students. He came to my school several times and did clinics with my band classes. The students all loved his English accent. Even when he razzed me for being Canadian, and telling everyone (including big audiences) that they (England) still OWN us (Canada), I love Alan and will cherish what he taught me. It was a privilege to play under his baton and beside his dear wife, Anne. May his family and friends find peace and comfort at this difficult time.

I am so so saddened to hear of Alan’s passing. Over the past few years we have become good ‘phone’ friends, fellow Brits living in the States. Alan was a serial entrepreneur always energized with ideas and visions with an infectious passion. While he clearly loved his Man United he enthusiastically embraced my Leicester City during their run to win the championship, enjoying their “Roy of the Rovers” season.
I will miss our chats and your wonderful sense of humor my friend, my sincere condolences to all those that loved you and the hearts that you touched.
Cheers
FU ( he’ll get it!)

I would like to offer my deepest condolences to your family. In times like these the Bible have proven to be of great comfort. The Bible book of John chapter 5 verses 28 and 29 holds out the hope of a resurrection for our loved ones who have past; and Joshua chapter 21 verse 45 let’s us know that God fulfills his promises. I hope that these Bible verses will bring your family some comfort. For further comfort please visit jw.org

Alan was a colleague in Utah and invited me for several excellent meals, introduced me to Indian food and jazz in England. I had not maintained communication since then, unfortunately.
He had a biting sense of humor and was an excellent brass player and conductor.
We enjoyed on occasion listening to Anne and him play at the church service.
Our condolences to Anne and the family.

Anne and James,
I am so heart-broken by the loss of Alan. I grieve with you and for you and your family. Alan was so respected as such a great man. He spoke highly of you and James in phone calls I have had with him in the past few years. He recently mentioned that he'd have liked to get back to the U.K. to visit with his dad.
I met him for the first time about six years ago at the Grand Rapids SAE Conference with Thomas Lago through Qirrasound and funding through loans to the company. He had kept in contact with me over the past four years by texting and through e-mails. If I can be of any help/you need to contact me call (920) 495-7686
My sincerest condolences,
Daniel Peterson

Alan and Anne played at my wedding as a favour to myself as I had known them for years, Alan always had a chat with me and encouraged me to play and only stop when I no longer enjoyed it, but to always give my best. When he conducted lingdale I was always welcome to come and have a blow even though they were 3 levels above where I was playing. My lasting memory will be wherever we were he always made me feel welcome he will be such a loss to many I am sure x

Jane and I love you Alan. Such a loss. Alan and I spent time talking about business, life and of course telling "naughty" stories and jokes. Laughing until it hurt. When we saw Alan in person, it was always a big bear hug, him saying "Love ya buddy" and me responding "Right back atcha". When it was time for Alan to head back home, it was then my turn with "Love ya buddy" and of course his response "Right back atcha". It was a thing. Alan was a dear friend, and will be missed. "Love ya buddy".
