Dr. Paul Peterson, 82, passed away peacefully November 22, 2018 in American Fork, Utah surrounded by his family. He was born August 31, 1936 in Lehi, Utah to James E and Lucille Worthen Peterson. He married Margery Ann Jennings on August 12, 1960 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints St. George Temple.
Paul received his B.S degree in Agriculture Education from USU and taught vocational agriculture at Morgan H.S. and Pleasant Grove H.S. He then completed a Master of Science degree in Agricultural Education at USU followed by a Ph.D in Agriculture from the University of Missouri in 1970. He worked for Cal Poly from 1969-1978. He also served as the Agricultural Specialist for the Utah State Board of Education. Paul relished the time he spent teaching anyone about raising crops, showing livestock, and especially enjoyed his interaction with the State FFA officers that he advised.
Paul served a mission for the LDS church in the Southern States. He loved telling stories from this time in his life. He also served faithfully in many other church callings.
Paul’s passion was growing crops in Cedar Fort, Utah, his home town. Alfalfa was his specialty and he won the World Forage Bowl and many prizes at the Utah State Fair. Although he grew crops, he was fond of saying that he wasn’t growing crops, he was "growing boys”.
Paul’s patience, perseverance in adversity, love for family, testimony, and gentleness will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
Paul is survived by his wife Margery, his children: David (Katie) Peterson, Grant (Jolynn) Peterson, Annette (Jeff) Forsyth, Jonathan (Chantal) Peterson, 27 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, his siblings Cary Peterson and Jay Peterson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter Linda Dexter and a brother Sherwin Peterson.
