Obituary of Kenneth Dee Knight
Kenneth (Ken) D. Knight, of American Fork, Utah, died on Nov. 22, 2017, at the age of 88 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on October 5, 1929 in Provo, Utah, to Ralph Waldo Knight and Fern Young Knight and was raised in Orem, Ut where he graduated from Lincoln High School in 1947. Ken enlisted in the Air Force and served from 1947 to 1950. On returning from the service he met the love of his life Dorothy May Penrod and they were married on June 10, 1951. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple. Ken was currently serving as an active High Priest in their ward.
Ken and Dorothy resided in Orem where they raised their family. Ken was a dedicated and hard working man. His career included farming, working at Geneva Steel and then ended working in the trucking industry for many years until retiring and moving to Torrey, Utah for 26 years where he was able to continue to enjoy his passion of being an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He also found a passion for photography and took many beautiful photographs of wildlife and the outdoors. Ken and Dorothy enjoyed many years of camping and traveling with family and friends. Among their favorite places to visit was Montana and Alaska. Ken was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His love will always be with us. He will be remembered for his contagious smile and his great passion and love for life.
Ken is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his two daughters, Mindy (Larry Wright) of Scipio, Ut; Linda (Mike Clark) of American Fork, Ut; daughter-in law Pam (Dale Knight) of Lindon, Ut and 11 grandchildren Jon, Tim, Jessica, Emilee, Natalee, McKay, Kyle, Kristee, Dustin, Scott, and Jasmine; plus 23 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters and one brother, Fern (Val Harward); Colleen (Clent Lewis); and Gary (Susie)Knight and an extended loving family.
He was preceded in death by his brother Ray Knight, his son Dale Allen Knight and his grandson Chad Kenneth Wright.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the remarkable employees at Horizon Home Health and Hospice, Home Care Assistance of Utah, and Spring Gardens Assisted Living, for all their loving care given to Dad. Always professional and attentive, you all made the final months of Dad's life enjoyable and comfortable.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday November 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Anderson & Sons Mortuary 49 East 100 North American Fork, UT. A visitation will be held prior to services from 9:45-10:45. Internment, American Fork Cemetery.
