Obituary of David Laron Allen
David Laron Allen, 55, passed away November 12, 2017 in Orem, Utah, while at home with his family at his side. He was born in Missoula, Montana on October 2, 1962, to Larry E. Allen and Joanne McLelland Allen. David was the oldest of nine children. His first job in life was to be “the big brother” to all of his siblings, which was an assignment he took very seriously. He loved the years he spent growing up in Montana.
David also lived in Utah, and graduated from American Fork High School. After graduating, he followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the Utah National Guard. In the Guard, he was assigned to many different units, including at Ft. Hood, Texas and the 144th Medical Unit as a field medic. He served his country during Desert Storm in the Middle East.
David also served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Raleigh, North Carolina. He had many roles in the LDS church and served with dedication and love. He attended Utah Community College and worked a variety of jobs. He was a substitute teacher as well as an aide in the hospital. David loved serving his fellow man.
He was married to Temmie Jo Ramsey in October 1989 in American Fork, Utah. They raised three sons: Chris, Nick and Tyler. He resided in St. Louis, Missouri; Lakeland, Florida; and Orem, Utah. He worked as a traffic control operator in Florida.
In May 2012, David came back to the mountains in Utah to enjoy the scenery and beauty that is all around us. David had many loves including: hunting with his dad and brothers, playing basketball, hanging out with the boys, and going boating on Deer Creek. He had the unfortunate honor of wrecking every car he owned. He was an avid skiier and loved it. He loved going to the beach, and playing games with his family. He loved watching basketball and football, especially BYU games. He knew most of the players by name as well as their stats.
David is survived by his children: Chris Bowers, Nick Allen, and Tyler and Pia Allen. He is also survived by his grandson, Tiberius Allen. Also surviving are his mother Joanne Allen, and his siblings: Russell Allen, Jeffrey and Andrea Allen, AnnJanel Allen, Todd and Arla Allen, Larisa and Mark Harris, Scott Allen, and Julianne and Phillip Bennett. He was preceded in death by his father Larry E. Allen, brother Michael L. Allen, and his grandparents.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Heatheridge LDS Chapel at 620 East Heather Road in Orem, Utah. A viewing will be held at 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. followed by services at 11:00 a.m. at the church. David will be buried with graveside services at the American Fork Cemetery.
