Obituary of Delwin Orin Laughridge
With such sadness, Delwin ‘Chip” Laughridge has left us to join our Heavenly Father, on the evening of July 13, 2018. He was greeted in heaven with open arms from his wonderful father, Delwin Laughridge who proceeded Chip to the Heavens.
Chip was born in Chicago, IL to Delwin and Marliss Laughridge. His nickname was thought to be from “Chip off the old block’ having the same name as his father.
Chip was kind, charismatic, a friend to so many. Chip could make people feel comfortable just by starting up a conversation. He had a great smile and charm that made you feel like you have known him forever. He loved to play the drums and has done so since he was a little boy banging on his Mom’s pots on the kitchen floor. Chip has had the pleasure of playing in different bands over the years and recently played for Critical Speed, an 80’s Rock in Roll Band out of Salt Lake City.
Chip is loved, and he loved his soul mate, best friend and love of his life, Denise Laughridge. When Chip wanted to ask Denise to marry him, he asked his children first if it would be ok. That meant a lot to Chip when his children said yes. Chip was such a sport when Denise would have Chip accompany her to such things as an Opera or a live dance show. It was clearly not something he would of chosen to do on his own, but he would say, “I do it because I love you.” That is what made him so charming. Through happiness, sadness, trials and tribulations, Chip and Denise were always together. Chip was very much loved by his family and his friends.
Until we meet again my love, Chip also leaves behind his beautiful Mother Marliss Laughridge, brother and his family Eric, Nicole and Colin Laughridge, sister and her family Christine, Van, Lisa and Vanny Harrington, brother and sister-in-law Joe and Tracey Stoneking, daughter Rebekah and her family Seth, Tirzah, Jeremiah, Levi, Silas, Eleanor and Agatha Minnis, daughter Hatley Laughridge, son Alex Laughridge and daughter Kallie Flores and son-in law Devon Flores.
Forever you will be in our hearts, and Denise wanted you to know she will love you forever and always.
