To the Kitchen Family: We are greatly saddened at the passing of Your dad. He was such a great guy. He was born 2 days before my own dad. I had the opportunity to work with Mel and Verda in the Family History center. That was truly my first real delve into my own family history. They were such great examples of the dedication that is needed in that work. Your dad was my high priest group leader in the 18th ward, and I loved working with him there. The last time I saw Mel was at the Belair Assisted Living, and I Paul and I talked it was getting close to time. What a great reunion he is having with Verda and family. Knowing that the gospel is true and the promises it gives us are such blessings in our lives. Scott and Cozette Deveraux

Dear Members of the Kitchen Family, We learned of the passing of your wonderful father and grandfather from the very nice obituary which appeared in the newspaper. With his wife, Verda, Brother kitchen served in the mission (one of his two missions in England) over which we presided, which at that time was known as the "England Bristol Mission". The Kitchens served with remarkable dedication in the places where they were assigned. As you know, they are wonderfully kind people and their commitment to the Church and the Savior was wholehearted. Their kindness was felt by the members, by the persons being taught by the young missionaries and by the impressionable missionaries themselves. We loved our association with them at senior missionary activities and various zone and other conferences. Thanks for sharing your parents and grandparents with us for a season as they served as full-time missionaries in the England Bristol Mission.
