Obituary of Alta Arlene Stenzel Hewitt
Alta Arlene Stenzel Hewitt, 89, of American Fork, Utah, passed away in Provo, Utah, on April 18, 2018. She was born March 31, 1929, in Marion Kansas, to John Jacob Jr. and Ella E. Stenzel. She grew up on a farm in Marion Kansas. She went into Nurses Training and while in Kansas City met and married Lawrence Paul Hewitt. She and Lawrence are the parents of nine children. Alta lived most of her married life while raising her children in Wichita Kansas. After her husband retired they moved to American Fork Utah. Alta was a strong, talented and organized woman who was also a wonderful cook and known for her delicious cinnamon rolls. She enjoyed working on genealogy, and throughout her life, she was very active in her church and was able to lead, teach, and direct many of the programs that help children, youth, and other women to grow closer to God.
Preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brother Larry E. Stenzel, daughter Laurie L. McEwan and grandson Seth R. McEwan.
She is survived by her children: Gregory A. Hewitt, Linda P. Peterson, Michael L. Hewitt, Michele A. Redford, Lisa E. Clampitt, Lanell J. Lange, Randall P. Hewitt, and Loretta L. Hewitt.
A graveside service will be held Monday, April 23, 2018 at 2 PM in the American Fork Cemetery where she will be buried next to her husband.
