What a wonderful legacy! Because of Aunt Bertha May and Uncle Dwain, there are generations of family ties and love. I will always remember my beautiful Aunt. We are praying for blessings of peace and hope upon all the family but we are happy that you will be reunited with your husband and I can visualize you dancing together.

Some fond memories from the Phil (Chick) and Fern Merrill family: (from Fern) Shortly after WW II ended our 2 families lived close to each other in revised housing barracks in Kingman, Arizona. Bertha May was not yet a member of the Church but was asked to be the secretary in the Primary. Fern and Bertha May went together every week with their children. Everyone was friendly to her and happy she was there. Since she was married so young, she would get the "award" for being the youngest mother on Mother's Day at church. Later, she received the award for the most children. Her oldest Priscilla (we called her Pam because that's what her initials spelled) played all the time with Fern's 2 girls, Jeanne and DeAnn. When Fern sewed dresses for her 2 girls, she made a 3rd dress (all alike) for Priscilla since Bertha May didn't sew. Fern and Bertha May usually went shopping together, and they became very close. Jeanne and DeAnn remember how beautiful they thought Aunt Bertha May was with her dark hair and blue eyes, and she always had a big smile on her face. DeAnn remembers getting the idea of making pancakes in the shape of gingerbread men and animals after she saw Aunt Bertha May doing it for her children. After we all moved to Globe, Arizona, Chick started returning to church and had a big influence on his younger brothers Kenneth and Dwain. Eventually Elaine (Kenneth's wife) and Bertha May were baptized. Bertha May was serving her mission at the SLC Family History Library when Chick and Fern had their 50th wedding anniversary celebration, and she prepared and presented to them a thick book of their genealogy, which was greatly appreciated. Bertha May frequently thanked Fern for being her "missionary", even after they were both widows and often called each other on the phone to stay close and be emotional support for each other. Fern would very much like to join with all these wonderful people on the other side. Even though Bertha May will be missed, we are all happy that she is now with her family members who preceded her in passing through the veil.

Grandma - I know you lived a long and wonderful life - you gave great joy to those that loved you and you will be greatly missed not only by all who love you but by the future generation yet to come. I am so very thankful that Ray got to know you and he will miss the conversations you had together especially the one's about Grandpa and our family history. You inspired a love of genealogy in him that I hope continues for a long time to come. I know in my heart you were waiting for the day you could reunite with your love - Grandpa has been waiting a long time for his Birdie to fly home and you are finally together again. We are truly blessed for without you there would be no us - we owe you our lives and for that I am forever grateful. Please hug my Mom and Sister for me, they are with me everyday in thought and now you get to spend eternity with them.
All my love is being sent up to Heaven for you, Grandpa, Nana, Poppa, My Mom and Christa to share. You will be forever in my heart.
Your Granddaughter -
Laura
