Obituary of Roberta Ann Laramie Echols

Roberta (Bobbie) Ann Echols, 78, recently of Orem, Utah, passed away peacefully April 11, 2018 in the morning at Summerfield Retirement in Orem, Utah from complications of being an old lady.

She was born April 2, 1940 to the late Wilbur Austin Laramie and Rachel Elizabeth Holmes in Palestine, Illinois. She lived most of her life in St. Louis Missouri, where she worked many years for South Western Bell as a Service Representative.

Bobbie married and was sealed to Thomas James Echols (deceased August 23,2015) (“Oh Thomas!”) in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days in August 14, 1973.

Bobbie earned her Associates in Arts degree from Meramec College in 1981, and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology Degree from Washington University in 1988.

After spending the first 20 years of their marriage raising (and eventually kicking out) 5 children, they retired and spent approximately the next two decades traveling the world, taking thousands of photographs and collecting millions of trinkets, and soaking in all the wonderful things our Father in Heaven has offered us.  Bobbie and Tom loved volunteering for the National Park Service at their campgrounds and information centers. They became typical “snow birds” and enjoyed the warmth of our southern states in the winter and in the summer gleefully spent their children’s inheritance on gasoline and campground fees all over the country. Once they got their fill of travels, they finally settled down in American Fork, Utah, where they spent the remainder of their time together puttering around gardening and enjoying life.

Bobbie was a gentle, compassionate soul whose passion and love for all critters was only surpassed by her love for her family.  She was blessed with five children: Cynthia Ann Asbury (Joseph), Tina Marie, John Wallace (Janice), Thomas Matthew (Angie), Elizabeth Ann. Also, ten grandchildren: Daniel (Danica), Joshua(deceased), Kayla, Kenna, Eric, Kelsey, Ashley, Chloe, Logan, Jackson and four great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister Judith Stigers (Ken), her niece Carrie and nephew Dan (Krystal).

Bobbie has requested in lieu of flowers, to please send donations to her favorite charity, Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah at: bestfriends.org.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 @ 6:30 PM at the LDS Chapel 350 W. 175 N., American Fork, Utah.
