Obituary of DL Wright Weaver
DL Wright Weaver, a long-time resident of Idaho Falls, died in his sleep early Monday morning, Jan 9, 2017. He was 88.
DL was born in Smithfield, Utah, Feb. 26, 1928, to Wright and Eileen Thornley Weaver. He had a beloved younger sister Barbara (Richard M. Young).
The family moved to Idaho Falls in 1935. DL grew up there, participating in church, school, and sports. He was especially known for his outstanding musical contributions.
DL married his high school sweetheart, LaRue Hemsley, also of Idaho Falls. They have four children: Alan, Laura (Hinsdale), Lenore (Davis) and Glen. He graduated from BYU. He taught school in Burley and later in Pocatello. He worked at the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) Site where he assisted the developers of the first nuclear powered aircraft carrier and submarine. He participated in various agricultural ventures with his father in Monteview, including raising turkey and designing and building a feed mill for Weaver Beaver.
DL and family moved to the Seattle area in 1969 where he taught school. He and LaRue returned to IF in 1990 to care for their aging mothers. They maintained the Weaver home on Holmes Ave. They also had a home in Las Vegas for fifteen years. His last 2 ½ years were spent at Jamestown Assisted Living in Provo, Utah.
DL spent his life in quiet, continuous service to his family, neighbors, friends and church. He lived the gospel, and drew others to it with his love and laughter. He was a great teacher, and served in many and varied church callings. He even made attending choir practice fun.
DL is survived by his 4 children, 22 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. He is remembered and fondly missed for his kind and affectionate nature, talented writing, mischievous sense of humor, keen wit, and for his beautiful singing and speaking voice. We promise to follow his example in being strictly truthful in storytelling, not exaggerating, and absolutely never teasing others.
