Obituary of Phillip Scott Olsen
Phillip Scott (Bud) Olsen, 89, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away surrounded by his family on March 15, 2017. He was born September 1, 1927 to Lorenzo Hans and Rebecca Myrl Boyack Olsen in Spanish Fork, Utah. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary LaJuan Croff, on November 27, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of three children. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS South Dakota during World War II. He worked as a Safety Inspector at the Tooele Army Depot for 32 years before his retirement.
Phil was active in the LDS church serving for 25 years as a ward financial clerk. He and his wife attended weekly sealing sessions at the temple for 28 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and good neighbor. He always grew a big garden and freely shared the produce with all his family and neighbors. He was always ready to help anyone with whatever they needed to be done. He received recognition as a “Blue Ribbon Neighbor” for his efforts.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years and two of their children Louise (Scott) Dean and Mike Olsen; 6 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren; brother Glen Olsen and sister Joanne (Ned) Losser. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter (Linda Olsen).
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 11 am at the Anderson and Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork, Utah. A viewing will be held on Sunday evening from 6-7:30 pm and again one hour prior to the services on Monday at Anderson and Sons Mortuary. Interment will be in the American Fork cemetery.
