Obituary of Jeremy Kay Howe

Our warm hearted and loving son, Jeromy Kay Howe, passed away peacefully in his sleep July 13, 2017 in Orem, Utah.  Jeromy was born February 10, 1988 in Murray, Utah.  He moved several times during his 29 years, making life-long friends wherever he went.  He was an energetic bouncing baby from the get-go, his curiosity leaving trails of carefully unassembled electronics and toys everywhere he went, “just to see how they work”.  At the age of four, he memorized the several mile car trip to his grandma’s house, and then made the journey solo on foot.  Grandma was stunned to find her grinning little grandson barefoot and alone on her doorstep.

During his youth,  Jeromy loved Boy Scout camp outs, traveling with his family around the country in the camper and lighting the campfires, summer camp, fishing with his dad and Grandpa Coombs, snowboarding, kayaking and canoeing.  He was a master at video games, immersed himself in Harry Potter books, a gift from Grandma Coombs, and he enjoyed a good rock concert.  Jeromy excelled in many subjects, especially art, and had a gift for math which continued through his college years.

Jeromy loved the ocean and visiting Grandma and Grandpa Howe in Florida every summer, until moving there with his family at age 14.  He was equally at home on Florida’s beaches and Utah’s mountains.  Throughout his life his numerous pets were his cherished buddies, and he left behind two tarantulas, Rupert the pug, and Clyde the Boston terrier.  He was always adventurous, riding the scariest amusement park rides, and driving around the country to exciting places.  He loved his friends, his birthdays, and holidays, especially Christmas time and lighting the fireworks on the 4th of July.

Jeromy was loving and loyal to his family, as well as the love of his life, Riley, who he hoped to spend the rest of his life with.  He treasured his daughter Annabella and her Grandma Pam, who did so much for him during his year in South Dakota.  He had a very special and loving relationship with his mom and knew he could go to her for anything because she loved him unconditionally.  Jeromy would do anything for all of us and was our humble, gentle giant. 

Jeromy was overjoyed to be able to return to his boyhood home, Utah Valley, after being gone 13 years. He was excelling at a job he cared about and taking classes to improve his skills.  Wherever he worked, he always talked about how much he cared about his customers and enjoyed making them his friends.  He was good at fixing cars and had become the family car mechanic, giving advice on all our issues and fixing his own.  Jeromy worked hard for his future plans and goals, and was on his way to achieving them.  He leaves an immense and unfillable void in our lives and in our hearts.  We love you so much Jer-Bear and look forward to when we can be together again.

Jeromy is survived by his daughter Annabella in Webster, SD; parents Jim and Marilyn Howe in   Melbourne Beach, FL; sisters Whitney (Garret) Miner in Mesa, AZ, Alexi in Melbourne Beach, FL, Samantha in Gainesville, FL, and Nicole (Nathan) Hope in Lehi; girlfriend Riley Wilson in Orem; grandmother Joan Coombs In American Fork; and lots of nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles.  He was preceded in death by his grandfather D’Monte Coombs, and grandparents Richard and Ethel Howe.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the American Fork 4th Ward Chapel, 455 East 300 North in American Fork, Utah. Close friends and family may call at the chapel for a viewing, prior to the funeral,  from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.   Internment will be at American Fork Cemetery
