Obituary of Shirley Cloward Palmer
Shirley Cloward Palmer passed through the veil Sunday, April 2nd just as General Conference ended. General Conference was always time to gather for our family and it was especially sweet that we all got to be together one last time. She was greeted by her parents, Loran and Florence Gurr Cloward, her granddaughter, Daphne, and her sisters Velma (Merv) and Zemona (Justin), as well as countless others who had preceded her in death. She is survived by her eternal sweetheart of 58 years, Jim, their children: Tammy (Brett), Danette (DeeRay), Jamie (Lisa), Terry (Lisa), Wendy (Bob), Lori (Brian), Debbie (Randy), Mark (Jessica), Ryan (Shanda), her siblings: Dar (Rosey), and Gay (Jim), 33 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and countless missionaries from their mission to Brazil, who mom loved as her own.
Mom and dad spent those 58 years of marriage together serving each other, their family, and their Heavenly Father and Savior, whether it was serving the servicemen and missionaries during their years in the military where Dad served as a Chaplain, in their callings with Church assignments wherever they lived, or with their missionaries of the Porto Alegre South Mission and the Sao Paulo Brazil Missionary Training Center. Mom was always giving and serving others, especially her immediate family. We knew we always came first to her, she was happiest when she had her family around her. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A viewing will be held at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 6141 West 11000 North, Highland on Friday, April 7th from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the Village Way Chapel, 901 E. Village Way, Alpine on Saturday, April 8th from 9:30- 10:30 a.m. with the funeral following at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the General Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
