Obituary of Jay Lyn Bennett
Jay Lyn Bennett passed away on March 18, 2018 at home in Pleasant Grove, UT. Born Sep. 18, 1931 in Tremonton, UT to Aarl Roberts Bennett and Gladys Hannah Sparks, he was the third of six children. He served as a missionary in the LDS Northwestern States Mission. He graduated from BYU and served honorably in the U.S. Army. He married Ada Mae Wild of Alpine, UT on Sep. 16, 1955 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
An electrical engineer, Jay retired from Honeywell in 1992 after 25 years and assignments in Minneapolis, St. Petersburg, FL, and Redlands, CA. He was an devoted member of the LDS Church, and held various leadership callings, including: bishop, high councilor, stake presidency counselor, and temple sealer in the Orlando, Florida and Mt. Timpanogos, Utah Temples.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Robert, Val Dee and Renae. He is survived by sisters Karen and Janele, his beloved wife Ada, son Scott Bennett of Monrovia, CA, daughters April Bennett Stirling (Don Stirling) of Salt Lake City, UT, and Wendy Bennett Rogers (Donald Rogers) of Cedar Hills, UT, as well as 7 wonderful grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the LDS Grove 1st Ward Chapel, 56 South 1300 West, Pleasant Grove, UT. Viewing will be held prior to the service, from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM at the chapel. Interment will be at the Alpine City Cemetery.
