Obituary of Melba Passey Argyle
Heaven has our angel...
Melba Passey Argyle, affectionately known as Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma to all of us, passed away in Highland, Utah on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 and joined her eternal sweetheart and loved ones, who have been awaiting her, for a joyous reunion on the other side.
A viewing to greet family and friends will be held at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary 49 East 100 North, American Fork, Utah on Sunday October 15, 2017 from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at the American Fork 23rd Ward 680 North 350 West, American Fork, Utah on Monday October 16, 2017 with a viewing from 9:45-10:45 am.
Melba was born on a cold night in December, 1925 at her grandmother’s house in Lanark, Idaho to Earl Frederick Passey and Alice Elaine Dimick Passey. She was the oldest sibling to Lyman Earl Passey, Afton Passey Zundel, Jeanette Passey, Richard Grant Passey and Frederick William Passey, all of whom preceded her in death.
Melba grew up in Lanark and Montpelier Idaho, Logan, Laketown and eventually Randolph, Utah, where she moved two doors down from the Argyles. She caught the eye of a handsome young man named LaMar Argyle and the rest is history. They were married on Friday August 13, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple at the young age of 17 before LaMar was to be drafted. Melba delivered her first baby, Judy, while her sweetheart was fighting in World War II.
After LaMar was released from the army, they lived in Logan for a year while attending Utah State University. It was there that they added two more little girls to their family, Denice and Marla. Ron was born in Evanston while they were earning money for college. After graduating they moved to American Fork where Sherrie and Diane were added to complete their family. She has lived there ever since until making her home, the last few years, at Highland Glen Assisted Living in Highland, Utah.
She worked as a clerk, school lunch lady, nurse’s aide on the maternity ward and in Central Processing at American Fork Hospital where she made some very dear and lasting friendships.
Melba was a wonderful cook, seamstress and homemaker and made everyone feel welcome at her home. She served the Lord faithfully her entire life in many capacities and enjoyed serving and working in both the Provo and Mount Timpanogos Temples.
Melba was preceded in death by her loving companion LaMar Argyle, her parent’s and her siblings, her sons-in-law Robert Wilson and David Fackrell, her grandson Troy Wilson and great grandsons Ketrick Anderson and Jacob Young.
She is survived by her children Judy (Michael) Robinson, Denice Wilson, Marla Fackrell, Ron (Carol) Argyle, Sherrie (Lyle) Nelson and Diane (Cary) Johnson, 31 grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren, all who will miss her and think about her every single day.
She had a wonderful influence on countless individuals, and most especially her children and grandchildren, where they all have countless fond memories they share of her. She was a strong lady and wonderful example to all and endured faithfully to the end. She will truly be missed.
Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened. –Dr. Seuss
