Obituary of Dennis Taylor Durfey
Dennis Taylor Durfey, 76, of Highland, Utah passed away May 29, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. Born May 27, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah the son of Franklin Haws and Letha Taylor Durfey. Dennis married his High School sweetheart HelenAnn Fulkerson July 29, 1960 in American Fork and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, August 16, 1961. They were married 46 years. Dennis loved athletics, he holds the record in the 100 meter dash in high school and he loved both coaching and playing sports throughout life. He especially loved bowling in his later years bowling on the Gutter Busters team. He was active in the LDS Church and served as a Bishop in the American Fork 7th Ward. Dennis loved the temple and served as an ordinance worker at the Mount Timpanogos LDS Temple for 14 years. He held many callings in the LDS church, but his heart was always with the youth. He owned and operated Durfey Extra Care Dry Cleaners in Provo and Pleasant Grove. Survivors include his children: Carl (Melisa) Durfey; Craig (Carmen) Durfey; Steven (Rebecca) Durfey; Sandra (Mario) Ozuna; Ricky (Bekki) Durfey; Ron (Kristi) Durfey; Lori Ann (Dario) Michalek; Leslie (Jamal) Willis; 35 grandchildren 20 great grandchildren; his siblings: Evan Durfey; Jennie Lou Green; Kathleen Hutchings; and David Durfey. He is preceded in death by his wife HelenAnn, his parents, and his sister Louise Day. Funeral services will be held Saturday June 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Highland 2nd Ward, 10494 North 4720 West. A viewing will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, Am. Fork and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Burial in the American Fork Cemetery.
