Janice Jarman Rooney

Obituary of Janice Wing Jarman Rooney

Janice Wing Jarman Rooney 1937-2017 Janice loved dancing and did so most of her life. She became a charter member of the CLOGGING GRANDMOTHERS. They were a splendid, professional dancing group who performed at many venues for over 20 years. On June 21, 2017, on a warm summer breeze, Janice danced away to her next performance. If you ever saw a woman, happily clogging down a super market aisle while shopping, that was Janice! Janice was born in American Fork and attended grades 1-12 there. After High School, she married Ray Jarman. They had five children. Later, after her divorce, she married widower Jim Rooney who had 4 children from his first marriage. Janice was one courageous lady who was able to take over the raising of a 10 year old girl and 8 year old boy with Down syndrome. Unlike so many blended families, ours came together like melted butter. There was no “his, hers and ours.” All we had were OURS and we, Janice and I (Jim), could not be more proud of our children (who are now wonderful adults). Janice was the first resident of Pheasant Run Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in South Jordan. As such, she was given the title “Janice Rooney, the First Lady of Pheasant Run”. She spent the last 280 days of her life in Pheasant Run, visited nearly daily by her husband and young son Robert. While a resident, she made (and then forgot) several friends. The staff was always working to be sure that she was safe, secure and as happy as possible. My thanks goes out to them. She was preceded in her death by her parents Norman B Wing and Alithea Stagg Wing. She is survived by: her only brother Norm Wing (Richland, WA), her husband Jim Rooney, her sons: Brian Jarman (Meridian, ID), Trent Jarman (West Jordan), N. Kurt Jarman (Perry, UT), Michael Rooney (Placentia, CA), Russell Rooney (Syracuse, UT), and Robert Rooney; her daughters: Denise Jarman Blades (Boise, ID), Camille Jarmon Strong (Layton, UT), Debra Rooney Dutson (West Jordan) and Katrina Sisco (our honorary daughter). Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork. A viewing will be held Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Janice will be buried in the American Fork Cemetery. Please share a memory at andersonmortuary.com. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation would be gratefully appreciated. Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, 3152 Little Road Suite 146, Trinity, Florida 34655
