Obituary of Russell Bruce Cutler

Russell Bruce Cutler (45) Russell was called home on September 25th at 9:10pm from complications stemming from stage 4 liver cancer. The family considers it a tender mercy that he passed away just two days after being diagnosed. Russell was born to Bruce and Penny Cutler on August 2, 1972 in Ogden UT, the 3rd of 6 children (Shaun, Kim, Angie, Lori, Heather (Booga)). Garry Belton later became his step-dad, and Dawn Cutler his step-mom. As a young boy, Russell would roam the neighborhood looking for friends to play with. We would find him in the middle of a basketball game surrounded by kind friends who didn’t mind having their game interrupted so that he could shoot a few free-throws. He waved at every car that went by, and would always want to shake your hand (left handed) and ask you your name. Everywhere you went with Russ, he would know someone, or someone would recognize him. Even though he had many challenges, Russell loved this life. He especially loved school, Special Olympics, swimming, BYU, the Jazz, rodeos, pretty girls, bowling, car rides, Lagoon, McDonalds, root beer, pickups, Kenny Rogers and Alabama. Uncle Russ had a special relationship with his nieces and nephews and had a special affection for babies. He had a great sense of humor, and a smile that was infectious. He was born perfect, and left this world perfect. He rose above his challenges, and blessed the lives of many. Russell was preceded in death by his dad and is survived by a family and friends that love him, and lots of pretty girls that he tried his best to love. Russell is also survived by his little buddy Sophie, and the second half of Susie’s BYU story. The family would like to thank all the wonderful friends and caregivers that added so much to Russell’s quality of life... Everyone who ever let him interrupt their basketball game, or church talk… or who smiled and waved back, or recognized him and said hi, or tolerated an extra-hard kiss. We thank you. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you enjoy a root beer, and wave at a stranger. There will be a viewing at 9:00am and funeral service at 10:00am on Monday, October 2nd at the LDS chapel at 895 North 900 East in American Fork There will also be a viewing Monday, Oct 2nd from 6pm-8pm at Lindquist Mortuary in North Ogden, and a viewing from 9:30am-10:30am Tuesday, October 3rd at the LDS Chapel 386 East Elberta Dr. in North Ogden, followed by the funeral at 11:00am. Happy trails, Russ.
