In the early 1960’s Marielle began working at the Utah State Training School as an attendant and in 1962 was selected by the Board of Directors to attend college classes to become a Behavior Technician. She spent the next 23 years working in the Psychology Department of the Training School. Marielle always enjoyed traveling. She and Henry made many trips to visit friends and especially enjoyed traveling to visit with their children and grandchildren. After Henry’s passing, Marielle traveled with friends, seeing many places around the United States. She also became a member of several different clubs and always enjoyed the activities and events associated with them. Marielle was very proud to be a member of the Daughter of Utah Pioneers, having petitioned under Mary Elizabeth Veach, a great great grandmother who walked across the plains from Winter Quarters, Nebraska, to Salt Lake City, in the fall of 1853. In 2009, Marielle moved into the Charleston living center in Cedar Hills, Utah. She always commented that she loved living there and that everyone treated her with such loving kindness and respect.

As Marielle wrote in her life story which she presented to her family in December, 2008, “I have always tried to be a kind person and a good neighbor and I think God returns kindness to you. He has returned immeasurable love to me through the lives of my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Each holds a special place in my heart.”
