Obituary of Verlin Grant Bocker 

Verlin Grant Bocker, 97, of Lindon, Utah passed away September 20, 2014. Born December 24, 1916 in Idaho Falls, Idaho the son of Oscar Emanuel Bocker and Mary Beatrice May Brown. He married Kathryn June Spencer August 17, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in Southern California their entire married life until moving to Utah in April 2014. Verlin was the owner/operator of Compton Friction Materials Company in Compton, CA. After retirement he worked as the Nursery Manager at Barr Lumber. He loved gardening, photography, travel, and he was a car enthusiast. He loved to cook and was known for his chili and his pies. Verlin was a proud American. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serving in many callings and was a faithful home teacher. He loved his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Survivors include: his wife, June; 3 daughters, Sherrie Murray; Katie (Reid) Madsen; Julie (Jeffrey) Oeser; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, his step mother Ada Thomas, his son Keaton, two brothers: Paul and Ted; and a sister, Vera. Funeral services will be held Saturday September 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Anderson & Sons Mortuary Chapel, 49 East 100 North, American Fork, a viewing will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the services. Burial in the Lindon City Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to any US military or veteran’s organizations.
