Obituary of Margaret Priday Sykes
Margaret Priday Sykes, 89, passed away at her home in American Fork, Utah September 25, 2014. She was born May 27, 1925 in American Fork, to Thomas Samuel and Josephine Forbes Priday. She had one brother, Leland Forbes Priday and one sister, Chole Priday (Weed). She married William Bigler Sykes in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 1, 1948.
Margaret was a wonderful mother to Mary Anita Sykes (Barry), Glen Priday Sykes (Carol), Patricia Sykes Tolton (Richard), Mark Priday Sykes (Bonnie), Marilyn Sykes Johnson (Kevin) and Joanne Sykes (Patrick). She adored seventeen grandchildren and thirty four great-grandchildren. Margaret graduated from American Fork High School and Brigham Young University. She worked as a secretary at American Fork High School. Margaret and Bill served a mission to Nauvoo. She was an active member of the LDS church serving in many positions.
Margaret enjoyed DUP, her literary club, class reunions, and was a master planner of family parties. She had a smile for everyone and had a gift of making others feel like they were “her favorite”. She was a delightful person with a fun sense of humor, was dedicated to any task, and a good friend to all. Margaret will be greatly missed by many.
She was preceded in death by a daughter (Anita), her husband, her siblings and parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, at the Spring Hollow Ward, 700 W. 500 N., American Fork, Utah. A viewing will be held Monday the 29th from 6-8 p.m. at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork and at the church Tuesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Burial in American Fork Cemetery.
