Obituary of Christian Raymond Christensen

C. Raymond Christensen returned to his Heavenly Father on November 10th, 2014 while he was at his home in Fort Collins, Colorado. Raymond Christensen was born on August 18, 1922 to Nephi and Laura Lorentzen Christensen. He was the 8th of 9 Children born, having a twin brother, Robert, who has proceeded him in death. Other siblings are Clara, Ova, Olive, Noma, Thelma, who all proceeded him in death, Coston, of Springville, UT, and Harold of Green River, WY Raymond was born in Blackfoot, ID where he attended school. He served a mission for the LDS church from 1946-1948 to the Northwestern States Mission. He served our country with the armed forces during WW2. He welded in the Tacoma Naval Ship Yards with his brothers. He married Donna Elaine Genzer on May 26, 1953 in Buxton, OR and three days later they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. They lived in Oregon, and Mackay Idaho, until 1958 when they moved to Rexburg, Idaho, while he went to school at Ricks College, then to Provo while he attended BYU and got his Bachelor’s degree. Later he went back to school to get his Masters Degree is Speech and Hearing Pathology. Raymond and Donna had 7 children, E. Kemp, who preceeded him in death in 1958, R. Craig, (Felicia) W. Brent (Zora) D. RaNae Parker (Jeff) Reed G. (Sally), Christian P. (Heather) James D (Sherri). They lived in Payson, Utah; Perry, Utah but spent most of their time in Evanston, WY where Raymond taught Speech Therapy at the State Hospital, and worked for the School District. Raymond and Donna divorced in 1979, then remarried in 1987 for four more years. After retiring from teaching, he moved to Salt Lake City and would work at Brighton Ski Resort as a lift operator so he could ski every day. Raymond married Ethelyn Cook September 19, 1992 In the Idaho Falls temple. With this marriage there were 5 children added to their union. Lavon Treasure, (Mary); Bonnie Wells (Phil); Donna Stokes who preceeded him in death,(Jed); Dean Treasure (Karen) and Darrell Treasure (Traci) Raymond and Ethelyn served a mission together in the Salt Lake Family HIstory Center. After their mission, they moved to Logan, Malad, then Idaho Falls where they lived until Ethelyn’s passing on January 2, 2010. With health deteriorating, Raymond lived with two of his sons Brent and Zora in Fort Collins, Colorado and with Jim and Sherri in American Fork Utah, and enriched their lives with his kindness and gentle way of living. Raymond was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all his life. He served two missions, in several bishoprics, and always put the Lord first in his life. All together they were blessed with 45 grandchildren and 75 Great Grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 14, 2014 in the Hillcrest 5th Ward, 680 North 350 West, American Fork. A viewing will be held from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Ucon, Idaho Cemetery on Saturday, November 15th at 1:00 p.m.
