Gary, my condolences to you and your family for your loss. I remember with great fondness the hours spent at your house, and the special outings to see basketball games - the Ut Stars, BYU and High School. Your father was always so generous, friendly and kind to me. Thank you all for those wonderful memories.

I have known Malcolm for many years, both in his service to the County and American Fork City. We had many good laughs! He was the kind of person that would keep a confidence, never lie, show emotion, and care about everyone. I will miss him.

I first met Malcolm Beck when he served as mayor of American Fork. He was fiercely proud of his community but I found him to be a man I could trust. You always knew where he stood on issues. I saw the same qualities when he was elected to the Utah County Commission. He wanted good honest government, which served the interests of the people. In this regard he left a legacy the Beck family can be proud of. I salute he and his lovely wife for all their years of service to the people of American Fork and Utah County!

Malcolm was a very good friend and associate when he was mayor of American Fork and I was the mayor of Salt Lake City. We worked together on many projects. He was a great gentleman and leader. I wish Malcolm's family the very best at this difficult time.

When I was younger I knew of Mr Beck. His wife was my kindergarden teacher (if I am remembering correctly). I remember going home from school and telling my mother that Mrs Beck was wearing a big pillow under her clothes. My mother went to the school to tell Mrs Beck what I had said. I remember them laughing about it but in those days I was young enough to not know what that meant. Many years later my husband and I were trying to get a restaurant open that was in the county. I felt that we were being harassed by the county Fire Chief. I went to the county building and talked to Mr Beck and told him the situation. Within a couple of days our problems went away. He wouldn't of fixed it if we were in the wrong but he did his research and we had done everything we needed to do and the fire chief was just trying to exercise a little strength with us. I have though of him many times since. He had such a presence about him. You could just feel that he wanted to do the right thing. He was a person that gave 150%. I was thankful for him that he would do his research and fix the problem. He truly was a public servant.
