Obituary of Jack Josiah Capell

Jack Josiah Capell, 86, of Pleasant Grove, Utah passed away Thursday September 14, 2017 in Provo, Utah. Born February 3, 1931 in Pocatello, Idaho, the son of James Bailey Capell and Flora Emmaline Marley. He was raised by his loving mother and he had great respect for his step-father George Hartley Siler. Jack married Nola Adamson in Pocatello, Idaho on July 15, 1952. Jack and Nola had five children and were later divorced. He later married Anna Rose (Annie) Ruggirello on August 15, 1983. She preceded him in death on July 10, 1999. Jack was a Korean War veteran proudly serving in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Collett (DD-730 Destroyer) serving as a Fireman - Engine/Mechanical Apprentice and received a total of 5 medals and commendations during his active service. Jack also served in the United States Naval Construction Battalion (SeaBees) for 18 years as a Construction Mechanic First Class. Jack worked for Union Pacific Railroad in Idaho and Utah, U.S. Steel in Wyoming, was self-employed in Wyoming, and later retired from Geneva Steel in Orem, Utah as their Locomotive Shop Foreman. He will always be known as a hardworking man who believed in a day’s work for a day’s pay. He is known for his mechanical skills and ability to rebuild and maintain automotive and train engines. Jack was also known for his out-going personality. He had the ability to make friends with complete strangers almost instantly. Dad was selfless with his children. He always provided more for his family than he ever did for himself. Survivors include: his children Vincent (Mitzi) Capell; Lance (Lorraine) Capell; Collette (Kurt) Schiefelbein; Mark (Susan) Capell; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and his sister Leah. He is preceded in death by his parents, step-father, wife, brother, two sisters, son - Jason Lee Capell, and great grandson - Cameron J Capell. Funeral services will be held Wednesday September 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Anderson & Sons Lone Peak Chapel, 6141 West 11000 North, Highland, Utah where a viewing will be held Wednesday from 9: 30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Highland City Cemetery.
