Obituary of Jacquetta Ramona Cook
Jacquetta (Mona) Barrus Nelson Cook
Born on June 15, 1927 in Provo, Utah to her parents Lester M. and Leora Barrus. Married Neal A. Nelson and had two children, Roy David and Cheryl Jenene. Later divorced.
Worked at the Utah Press Association from 1953 to 1972 and left there to marry John Call Cook and moved to Dallas, Texas where they lived until moving back to Utah in 2005. After John’s death in 2012 she moved to live with her daughter and husband in Highland until her death on January 6, 2015.
Jacquetta or as she is known to some, Mona, is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, her sister Lynnette Dale, and her brother Rollin L. Barrus.
She is survived by her children, Roy David Nelson and Cheryl Jenene and husband John Day. Also survived by two stepsons, Carl and Eliot Cook, grandchildren: David (Jessica) Day, Cheryl Leigh (Harlen) Munson, Emily Nelson and step-grandson Rickey (Lisa Marie) Cook, eight great-grandchildren and one step-great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the Highland 14th Ward, 6050 West Chapel Drive. A viewing will be held Saturday from 12:45-1:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Burial in Highland City Cemetery.
