Obituary of LaVon Harrington Bennett Hansen
LaVon Harrington Bennett Hansen passed away peacefully at her home January 10, 2015 surrounded by the family she loved so much. She was born December 23, 1924 in American Fork. (The city that her great-grandfather Harrington was the first mayor.) She was the only child of LaVon Harrington Bennett and Jonathan Eslie Bennett. She met and married the love of her life Wendell Pulley Hansen May 10, 1944. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple September 9, 1955. They have 13 children: Candy Hansen Taylor, Randy Hansen, Cindy Hansen Carson, Carla Hansen Jones, Colleen Hansen Kelley, Camille Hansen Fowler, Charee Hansen Broadbent, Brian Hansen, Cheer Hansen Brems, Bruce Hansen, Dr. Regan Hansen, Troy Hansen and Travis Hansen. They had 60 grandchildren and 91 great grandchildren and counting. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, who died giving her life, her adored first born son, Randy Bennett Hansen and a precious great grandson, Parker Charles Taylor.
LaVon was blessed with many talents and gifts; cooking and playing the piano would be at the top of the list. If you ever heard LaVon play the piano or organ you knew the goodness in her soul that she could vibrate through every note.
She has been given countless awards, titles and honors throughout her life, My Fair Lady, Runner Up to Mrs. Utah, and American Fork’s Woman of Achievement Award, just to name a few. The title that meant the most was that of being wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She leaves a legacy and an example to her family of unconditional love and a life of “joyful” service. Her positive upbeat ray of sunshine in our lives will be sorely missed and mourned for years to come.
Wendell and the family have been amazed at the outpouring of love and sorrow from friends and from the community. They express their gratitude.
