Obituary of Ruth Van Leuven Farmer

Ruth Van Leuven Farmer 1923-2015 Ruth Van Leuven Farmer, age 91, passed away on March 25, 2015 in Highland, Utah. She was born on May 16, 1923 in Grover, Wyoming to Calvin and Ellen Van Leuven. She married Walton Roper Farmer on November 22, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. Following her graduation from Baker High School in Oregon she attended BYU. She served a mission in the Eastern States Mission where she met her husband. They both served a mission together in Australia. Ruth was a faithful member of the LDS church and served in many callings. She worked at Queststar for many years in the service department and made special friends. She enjoyed her associations in literary club, square dancing club and daughters of the Utah pioneers. Ruth enjoyed crocheting, reading, and gardening and loved springtime. Her greatest joy was her family, and she was her family’s greatest joy. She will be treasured forever in our hearts. Ruth is survived by her children: Dale (Christy) Farmer, Scott (Susan) Farmer, Jo Ellen (Jeff) Shorter, Paul (Michelle) Farmer, Richard (Susan) Farmer, Lisa (Kelly) Savage, 28 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and a son-in-law James Duffin. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, a daughter Linda Duffin, two sisters and five brothers. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the American Fork North Stake Center, 975 North 60 East, American Fork. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday night at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork and Friday from 8:45-9:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment at American Fork.
