John,
Please accept my condolences for the passing of Kathy. Cathy Larson sent me the information. Kathy’s obituary includes the phrase “always focusing on others.” I can attest to that from her BYU years as I was one of the “others.” Over all of these years she has been close to my heart because of her kindness and the hours we spent talking and working together. I was the Athenian chairman of her successful Belle of the Ball nomination. A unit brother, Bob Lampson, and I were her partners in the dance competition and lo and behold, even with us, she either won or placed in the top couple. When we met I had been recently been baptized (taught by Gerry Turner) and her knowledge and natural nurturing helped me to grow in the gospel. As you know Kathy is as good as they get. She met but never knew my Barbara (Giauque) who was called away in October of 2013, here in Pittsburgh after a wonderful 56 years . Obviously, it is easy to identify and have great empathy for you. Certainly the Lord will continue to guide and direct you and your family and undoubtedly your experience will be like mine. You will feel her presence and your love will grow.

What a wonderful woman, Gospel Doctrine teacher, and friend! How my family adored this beautiful woman and her upbeat, friendly attitude. Her Gospel Doctrine lessons were superb; and I will always remember the pioneer stories we would share at the beginning of her classes during 1997, as we celebrated 150 years from the arrival of the pioneers into the Salt Lake Valley. Her wonderful husband and children were and are a reflection of the goodness of this wonderful daughter of God. John, may you and your dear children be comforted in this time of separation, in the knowledge that you have of the Plan and in knowing what a positive legacy your dear wife left to the rest of us. May God bless you.

Aunt Kathleen personified the terms "kindness" and "hospitality" better than anyone I've known. Her warm and gracious welcomes will be a part of me forever. As "...charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever..."; so will the memories of Kathleen's warm and gentle heart remain to comfort and bless us.

So sad for your loss John. Fond memories of our cool street-the Buckwalter girls and the Moss girls traveling to Salt Lake each week for piano lessons. Kathleen playing the violin so beautiful-I am sure she is already involved in music. May your family have peace and comfort.

Dear Uncle John and Family,
I so wish I could have been there for the funeral. I am so sorry to hear of aunt Kathleen's passing. I have so many good memories of all of you . I loved hearing Aunt Kathleen play the piano. Seeing her walking, no matter where I was it seemed I would see her. Playing at Grandma's house with you all, Thanksgivings and Christmas, She was always such a strong spirit and always had a word to uplift.
I miss you all so much. You are in my prayers and thoughts as you go through this time.
Love you all
Shae

I had the privilege of working with Kathleen at LDS Philanthropies. She was the perfect blend of being both very personable and very professional. Her happy smile and spirit of optimism always brightened my day. She had the wonderful ability to reach out to the individual. I can still hear her cheerful voice asking me, "How's Tom?" For Kathleen, that was more than a greeting. It was evidence of her genuine concern for me as a person. Both Susie and I will always cherish our sweet, cheerful friend, Kathleen. Please accept our sincere condolences.

Kathleen made such an impact wherever she went! I had the tremendous blessing of working with her at LDS Philanthropies, and my memories of her will stay with me. I loved spending time with her and John in Hawaii, laughing along with her at work meetings, and learning how to crochet from her. I'm so grateful for her vibrant and beautiful smile! She will be missed. My prayers are with you, John, and your wonderful family!
