Obituary of Doris Duvall Goodrich
DORIS DUVALL GOODRICH
Doris Duvall Goodrich, age 93, returned to her Heavenly Father on 7 July 2015. She was the third child in a family of six, born 20 March 1922, in a gilsonite mining town known as Dragon, near Vernal, Utah. Her parents are Alva James Duvall and Marion Alta Manwaring Duvall.
She grew up in Vernal, Utah, and graduated from Uintah High School, class of 1940. She attended one semester at Utah State University in Logan, Utah.
Doris moved to California after World War II began, worked in a defense plant and at Western Union. In California, she met Robert D. Blizzard. After the war, Bob and Doris were married but later divorced. Doris married O’Donnell “Doc” Goodrich 17 June 1988 in the Provo LDS Temple.
Her working career covered fields from legal secretary to sales clerk. During these years she moved across the country living in eight states from the East coast, Maryland to the West coast, Washington State to Utah.
Doris was a loving daughter, sister, step-mother and step-grandmother, and a friend to all. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving faithfully in church callings, mostly with music and dance. She served as a temple ordinance worker in three different temples: Seattle Washington, Provo Utah, and Mount Timpanogos.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, O’Donnell “Doc” Goodrich, her parents, two brothers, Alva Lewis and LaVoir Duvall, and one sister, Beulah McConkie.
She is survived by one sister, Velda Simmons of Orem, Utah, one brother, DeMar Duvall of Moses Lake, Washington, many nieces and nephews, and her husband’s children, Ethelynn (Marvin) Higbee), of Saratoga Springs, Utah; Roger (Suzanne) Goodrich of Heber, Utah; Patricia Davis, of Mountain Glen, Utah; Marshall (Jennie) Goodrich, of Springville, Utah; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, 11 July, at 2:00 p.m. in the Orem 4th Ward Chapel, 50 South 800 East, Orem, Utah. Internment will be at the Orem City Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East. Services coordinated by Anderson & Sons Mortuary, American Fork.
