Obituary of Gai Fern Mangum Elmer

Gai Fern Mangum Elmer, beloved daughter, wife, mother and grandmother is again with her Savior after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Born in Orem on May 16, 1935 to LeRoy and Golda Mangum. She married the love of her life, Leslie Elmer, in November 1950; together they built their Highland home with their own hands and raised a family of four children. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved creating beautiful things and was an accomplished seamstress, cake decorator, painter, weaver, and sculptor. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Leslie Elmer; her brother Kerry Mangum; her children and their spouses: Cindy and Richard Hansen, Linda and Jim Todd, Ronald and LuAnn Elmer, Darryl and Chris Elmer; her 18 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2015 11:00 a.m. at Highland 31st Ward, 11200 North Alpine Highway, Highland. Viewings will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Anderson & Sons Lone Peak Chapel, 6141 West 11000 North, Highland and Tuesday 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
