Obituary of Ray R Fausett

Ray R Fausett, 85, of American Fork passed away from natural causes on August 15, 2015. He was the son of Arnold & Elnor Prestwich Fausett. He was one of 14 children. When he was a child he helped his dad and brothers at the family sawmill at various places from Orem to Millbe. At the age of 17 he was sworn into the army with his identical twin brother Roy by his side. While in the army he cooked for President Truman and competed his Airborne course at Fort Benning, Georgia on June 26, 1948 as a parachutist and glider man. He was married and had 2 children Terry and Susan. He was later divorced. He worked at Geneva Steel as a crane man from 1951-1954 and an Inspector from 1955-1975 when he retired. While he worked at Geneva he met the love of his life, Anita Thornton, and was married on April 28, 1956 in Evanston, Wyoming. They had 6 beautiful children together and built a life in Orem, where they lived for many years. He loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His kids grew up at Strawberry Reservoir and he taught them everything he knew about fishing. They grew up eating fish & deer meat whether they like it or not. He loved spending time with the family in the mountains, camping and riding three wheelers. He loved playing cards and schooled everyone at the game of “Garbage.” There are so many memories from hunting, fishing and camping and just growing up, that we will all cherish forever. He was a beloved husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa. He loved his family and would do anything for anyone, anytime, anywhere he was there. He will be deeply missed by everyone that knew him.
