Kenneth L. Winn, 90, passed away August 26th 2015 in American Fork Utah. He was born on August 28th, the ninth and last child of Adelbert and Sarah Lovisa Hill Winn in Trenton Utah.
Ken graduated from North Cache High School in 1943. After graduation, Ken enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on USS Jason and USS Whitney ships during WWII. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, while at a town dance, he met and later married Gayle Olsen. They had two children and were later divorced. In 1978 he met and married Mary Schatz, who later passed away.
Ken worked for the U.S. Forrest Service for 35 years. As a contract and supply officer, he was instrumental in supplying food and tools for the smoke jumpers all over the Western United States. After retiring in 1980, he moved to St George to warmer weather where he obtained his Real Estate license and was able to play golf year round. Ken loved to golf, and he was excited when he hit his first hole in one shot. Ken was a self-taught, excellent player of the harmonica, who loved the ladies. Up until his passing, he was an outrageous flirt. Ken was very quick witted and made people laugh everywhere he went. He had a nick name for everyone he came in contact with including himself. When he would meet someone, he always introduced himself as Pedro Gonzales Van Jones.
Ken is survived by his two children; daughter, Sydney J Coombs (Steven) of Spanish Fork, Utah and son, Lewis L Winn of Albuquerque, NM; his grandchildren Kelly Wright (Joseph) of Queen Creek, Arizona, Traci Wright (Vaughn) of Riverton, Utah, Jordan Smith of Queen Creek Arizona and Austin Winn Smith of Riverton Utah. He had 7 great grandchildren; McKenna, Caden, Mason and Maddox Wright, Olivia and Jada Smith, and Jett Wright.
Ken is preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters; Carmen, Merle, Ray, Bessie, Connie, Belva, Don and Max.
A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00pm Friday, September 4th at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday September 5th, at the LDS Church 507 West 700 North American Fork Utah with a viewing prior from 9:45-10:45 am. Interment will follow in American Fork Cemetery.
