Obituary of Arriel F. Green
Arriel F. Green 91, formerly of Quartzsite, Arizona and Twin Falls, Idaho, died September 4, 2015, surrounded by his loved ones at Manila Hills Home assisted living facility owned by his cousin and her husband, Dian and Dave Gibb. Arriel was born October 23, 1923, in Glenns Ferry, Idaho. He is the oldest of four sons born to Wilmer Farriel Green and Henrietta Logan. Arriel served in World War II in the Signal Corps attached to the 10th Air Force, in CBI (China, Burma, India). After an honorable discharge he met Ethel Merese Meacham of Burley, Idaho at the Radio Rondevoo skating rink in Twin Falls. They were married on October 23, 1946, in the Idaho Falls LDS temple and are the parents of six children who were all raised in Twin Falls. Merese preceded him in death on May 9, 1978.
Arriel was active in the Snake River Council of The Boy Scouts of America and received the coveted Silver Beaver award in 1962. He was Council Adult Training chairman for four years at Camp T.E. Roach as well as other areas of the Magic Valley. He held other positions in the council during his 48 years of service in the Scouting program. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in many scout callings. He was office manager for Consolidated Freightways in Twin Falls, from April 1950 to May 1986. Upon retirement he sold his home, bought a motor home and retired to Quartzsite, Arizona where he made many new friends and continued in his church service as Branch Clerk.
He is proceeded in death by his wife, Merese, daughter Patricia, special friend Helen Dutson, parents, step-father Marvin Melvin Jones, two brothers, Cleon and Eldon, step-brother William (Bill) Paul Jones and step-sister Catherin McGowan. He is survived by three sons, Larry (Guen) Green of Twin Falls, Idaho, A. Lynn (Emma) Green of Middleton, Idaho and Lonnie Green of Cedar Hills, Utah. Two daughters Peggy (Allan) Whittekiend of Wendell, Idaho and Penny (Harlo) Park of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and his brother Glenden G. (Betty) Green of Havre, Montana. He has 18 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and two great great granddaughters.
Special Thanks to Dave, Dian and their wonderful staff who lovingly took care of Dad for the past two years. We also appreciate I-Care Home Health & Hospice for their care and attention given to Dad and our family, especially Ludean Bishop for the countless hours she spent helping Dad and visiting with him about his lifetime work and love for Family History.
Funeral services will be held at the LDS Chapel 1700 Elizabeth Blvd, Twin Falls, Idaho on Saturday, September 12, 2015. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 to 10:45 am with services to follow at 11:00. Graveside services and Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park, Twin Falls, Idaho. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the General Missionary Fund for the LDS church or Boy Scouts of America.
