Obituary of Leslie Elmer

Our beloved father and grandfather, Leslie Elmer, is again with his loving wife. Born Oct 1, 1932 in Ogden, Utah to William and Sarah (Rawson) Elmer. He moved to Highland in 1939. He remained on the family farm for the rest of his life. Les married the love of his life, Gai Mangum when he was just 18 years old; later, they were sealed in the Jordan River Temple. She proceeded him in death by only 11 weeks; now, they will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary together in November. After returning home from serving his country in the Korean War, he worked in the Nitrogen Plant at U.S Steel Geneva until his retirement in 1994. Always a hard working man, he also farmed and worked as an appliance repairman. He built his own home and raised a family of four children. Les enjoyed travel and tinkering in his garage, but above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Louise Bagenski and brother Art Elmer; his children and their spouses: Cindy & Richard Hansen, Linda & Jim Todd, Ronald & LuAnn Elmer, Darryl & Chris Elmer; his 17 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 11:00 a.m in the Highland 31st Ward, 11162 N Alpine Hwy. A viewing will be held Monday Sept 28, 6 to 8pm at the Highland 31st Ward, 11162 N. Alpine Hwy, Highland and 9:45 to 10:45am, Tuesday prior to services.
