My grandfather meant a great deal to me and I attribute a sizable portion of who I am to his great and steadfast example. I miss him and will always remember great hugs and firm handshakes. The mortuary was very kind and allowed me to pay my respects to him before the funeral services for which I will always be grateful. Grandpa was in good hands and I know he's in even better hands now.

I am a long lost cousin on his Uncle Olaf Merrill side of the family and have not seen Eldon for many years. I was several years younger than him, but can remember visiting Aunt Ina with my father and enjoyed those times. In case I do not make it to the funeral, I was happy to know he had a good life and was a special well liked person to be around. I think my father's side of the family when I visit his grave which is by Grandmother Dimmick's grave and wish they could still be here so we could have another family reunion.

Eldon was a sweet man. He was more of a father to me than mine ever was. I will miss him greatly. I will miss him bringing me ice cream sandwiches or bars every time we came over even if I said no I'm OK. I think it was just an excuse for him to have one. :) Eldon and Olive always made us feel like we belonged in the family. I will miss his smile and sense of humor. We love you Eldon.
