I met Byron at senior citizen in American Fork. He was a joy to sit with and be with. When we would line up to eat he would always keep stepping back to let the girls eat first. He is just a great man. My prayer is with your family. I will miss Byron a lot. I am on a mission in Armenia. Sorry I could not be there to support your family. Elder Tolton

We first met Byron Thurman 35 years ago. My husband was inactive but young missionaries found us and that was the beginning of a long and beautiful friendship for which I am eternally grateful. For ten years Bishop Thurman and Gayle and or counselors faithfully visited us on Sunday bringing a pie, cake, cookies, or vegetables from their garden. There were always much loved conversations about Montana, Wyoming, mountain men, horses, sports, gardening, and church activities. We were always invited to activities we grew to love so much that in 1994 we were baptized and later sealed in the LA Temple. We continued our friendship after Byron moved to Utah with visits to his home including tours of his beloved garden. We are who we are today as a family because of his kindness, love, and the joy he found in a life of service. He was a blessing in our lives and I am grateful for the cherished memories. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his beautiful family. Fondly remembered, Judy, Brandon, and Jenny McClintock

Dear Thurman family, It was a blessing in our lives to have known your mother and father. They were a favorite couple of our in the Fountain Valley 2 Ward - plus they were neighbors!! We will always remember your dad for his loving, kind ways. Plus - We loved that he would watch football on Sundays! I am so sorry that we aren't able to be at his memorial service. We send our love to you all. John and Diane Ziebarth.

Byron has lived next door to us for 27 years. He has taught our family wise life lessons. Byron grew and shared the BEST tomatoes ever with our family. Our motto has been "Why grow a garden when you have Byron?" Daily talks over the fence. Several eaten sugar cookies. Birthday parties and dinners together. Always a seat saved at church. Visits under the maple tree. Byron never spoke an unkind word about anyone. He has impacted the Prestwich Family forever and is a gift and blessing in our lives. All is right with the world because God gave us Byron Thurman as a neighbor. We love you and miss you.
