Obituary of Rodney Sterling Stevenson
Rodney Sterling Stevenson, 47, died at his home in Highland, Utah on June 20, 2017. He was born August 12, 1969 in Provo, Utah to Sterling Scoffield Stevenson and Marilyn Wells Baldwin.
He spent much of his youth in Dallas, Texas and London, England. He served an LDS mission from 1988 to 1990 in the California Sacramento Mission where he gained a love for the Book of Mormon and his Savior Jesus Christ. He married his eternal best friend, Melissa Anne Plothow, on March 21, 1992 in the Salt Lake Temple. Rod completed his Bachelors of Finance and MBA at the University of Utah. His pride and joy were his three boys that he loved spending time with on dirt bikes racing through the dry lake beds of Las Vegas. He spent many hours off-road racing, including the 2007 Baja 1000 with his "Band of Brothers Racing team," made up of family and friends. He enjoyed his current church calling of teaching the 11 year old boys, spending hours upon hours preparing his lessons. His favorite calling was working with the young men in his ward, including his favorite campout, The Klondike. Rod loved sports, played rugby at BYU, and was an avid University of Utah fan, along with never giving up his support for his Denver Broncos.
Rod is survived by his wife and children: Jordan (Kassi) Stevenson, Jacob Issac Stevenson (serving in the South Africa Johannesburg Mission), Hayden Dean Stevenson; his parents, and siblings: Angie (Todd) Lythgoe, Ryan (Christy) Stevenson, David (Liz) Stevenson, and his parent in-law Roger H. and Mary Gail Plothow. Rod is loved and will be missed by a large extended family, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday June 26, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Highland South Stake 9600 North 6800 West, Highland.
