Obituary of Davis J Devey

Together again. Davis J Devey, 89, of Alpine, Utah passed away on Monday morning June 26, 2017 peacefully with his children by his side. Dave was born on December 2, 1927 to Earl Marsh Devey and Velma Grace Strong. Dave loved Alpine, it is where he grew up and then lived within two blocks of his childhood home. He was a dedicated, and lifelong member of the LDS church, he married his sweetheart in the Salt Lake City temple in 1950. Dave grew up working on the family farm in Alpine, he continued to farm throughout his life, while also working at Geneva Steel for 33 years, and running a heavy equipment contracting business with his brother Don. He was also drafted into the Army to serve in Germany during the Korean War. Dave made sure to teach his family about hard work and dedication to all that they would do. While Dave enjoyed working hard, he played even harder. He loved hunting, fishing, traveling with his sweetheart of 52 years, Neicell, his siblings, and his children. He is preceded in death by his wife Neicell Loy Kolstad, daughter Loren Neicell Devey, son Kevin Otto Devey, his parents Earl Marsh Devey and Velma Strong Devey, his brothers Ranold Devey, Don Devey, and Carlos Devey, and his sister Afton Burgess, and grandson Cody Mitchell Jones. He is survived by his children Heather (Terry) Jones, Kerry (Leslie) Devey, Darren (Teresa, deceased) Devey, and his brother Wally Devey, and sister Marilyn Turner. Dave has 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. A viewing will be held Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 30th at the Alpine “old red church,” 165 North 100 East at 11 am with a viewing held from 9:45-10:45 a.m. The family would like to thank all the wonderful friends and neighbors who served and cared for Dave in his declining health, especially to the staff at the Central Utah Veterans’ home in Payson.
