Obituary of David lynn olsen
David Lynn Olsen passed away peacefully on February 2, 2016, after a difficult battle with cancer. He was born January 9, 1940, in Provo, Utah, to Lynn F. and Beulah Hatch Olsen. He grew up in the “tree streets” of Provo and graduated from Provo High School. David learned early to love fishing and hunting and spending time outdoors, and in all of these things he was joined by his brother Duane, who has remained his closest friend throughout his life.
David served a mission in Minnesota and Canada. After returning he enlisted in the Army and worked as a radar technician in El Paso and Okinawa. In Okinawa he met a beautiful girl from Utah, Myrna Petersen, and they were married on June 22, 1965, in the Salt Lake Temple.
David was an engineer by profession and by nature. He loved designing and building things and had an insatiable desire to know how everything worked. He could fix or invent anything. He was proud of his work designing pumps for the mining industry. He also greatly enjoyed the time he spent at home in his big workshop and his prolific gardens.
David loved his family, including his children: Lisa Tait (Mike); Peggy Peterson (Mike); Daniel Olsen (Danielle), and Elizabeth Brocious (Rod); thirteen grandchildren; and his siblings: Duane Olsen (Carol); Sharon Saunders; and Sharree Olsen (Mike Stevens).
