Since I heard the news of Dan's passing, I've had floods of wonderful memories of my childhood in Alpine side by side with Dan. He was a great friend from elementary through AF High school. He gave me his shoulder when my sister passed away in elementary school and I gave him mine when his father passed away later when we were in Jr High. Dan helped me get through my Calculus class, he was great with math. We were together when he wrecked his Volkswagen into a fire hydrant, we played golf, basketball, racquetball, and almost anything with a ball. We worked together and served together as youth in Alpine. I loved the Sutherland home, I felt as welcome as if I were a Sutherland. He was a good friend, my warmest love and deepest sympathies go out to his family.
