Dear Connie,
Nancy and I were just looking at the obituaries and found Walt's. I was just thinking about him the other day and was wondering how you were doing. Nancy and I have great memories of the time we spent in Wymount Terrance when Walt was our bishop. We learned a great deal from him and from you that has helped us in this life. Our prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Connie and Walter Bowen Family,
Our deepest sympathy to you and Walter's passing. We want you to know of our love for your family and that we keep you in our prayers. How happy we were when we moved to Temple Shadows that we would have the 2 of you as our neighbors, Connie. We so much appreciated having you as neighbors and friends and Janice was thrilled to know she would have a relative close by. Janice wanted to remind you that she remembers when you and Walter were dating and walking together in the halls of Am. Fork High School. With our love, Roger and Janice Fuller

As a student at BYU, I had the pleasure of being in Walt's religion class. He is an inspiring teacher. Though he has passed on he lives in my memory.
I pray that his family and loved ones will feel the comfort of the Lord until they are with him again.

Served in the North Carolina - Greensboro Mission under President Bowen. He was a great teacher of the restored gospel. Some of the best memories of my life were of sitting in a mission/zone conference and listening to President Bowen teach us, for hours, his knowledge of the scriptures and of church history were amazing. I doubt a day has gone by since that I have not thought about those experiences. He was direct, decisive, and demanding. I hope Sister Bowen and their children take comfort in the tremendous influence he had on the lives of so many. I regret not keeping in touch over these many years since 1977-1979.

I would be hard pressed to think of anyone who has had a greater impact upon my life than Walt Bowen. During my1962-64 school years at Utah State Univ., I probably took every Institute class he taught as well as going to the temple with him on many occasions. The consequence of this association was my own 40 year career with CES. I lost track of Walt over the years but have always held him with fondest memories and with great appreciation for his immeasurable influence upon my life. My sincerest condolences to his family for the loss of such a good man.

I most likely am the only missionary to have a shouting match with President Bowen on their first day in the mission! September 1978. There after we were great pals and understood each other. I loved and respected him. I also am grateful for the changes to the way missions are run. My love and sympathy to Sister Bowen and the family.

Oh how we love the Bowen family. So sad to hear our dear Bishop Bowen left us for heaven, but then, that is what he always preached - a glorious reunion with the Savior after a faithful life. We send our prayers and love to all of you, especially Connie. Your influence has affected our lives forever. 50 years ago in Wymount Terrace David was Walt's counselor. A life changing blessing for us!

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Bowen family. They are great people and have shown how we can all overcome adversity and trials. President Bowen, president of the North Carolina Greensboro Mission-1976-79, was a great teacher, BYU professor-1964-95 (https://religion.byu.edu/directory/retired), president and boss. He, his family and their love of the gospel and example changed this Idaho farm boys life.

I love and admire my Walter D Bowen. He was my favorite 8th Grade
Lehi High School Seminary Teacher. Our class met on the stage of the Lehi Tabernacle and we learned about the Book of Mormon. Brother Bowen loved us and we loved him.
